Our first ever The Progressive Farmer-Zogby International poll shows you are looking for change from the White House and Congress—and for answers to high fuel and fertilizer prices.
But the poll hints change might be afoot. Seventeen percent of those answering the survey say they
may vote for the other party's Senate and House candidates this time around. Another 10% say they
are not sure which party's candidates they will vote for this year.
Rod Grindle of Hastings, Iowa, has voted Republican in the past. But he was hoping to vote for
Hillary Clinton, who he sees as a strong supporter of ethanol. While he would likely vote for an
Obama-Clinton ticket, he is not all that excited about Obama. And for Grindle, McCain is not an
option this time around.
What do you think? Vote on our poll.
With 1,500 acres of corn that in good years produces 200 bushels an acre, Grindle is focused on
finding the best markets for his production. He counts ethanol among those markets. He is looking
forward to the opening of an ethanol plant near his southwest Iowa farm.
