New Release of DTN TABS Helps Suppliers Capture Opportunistic Fuel Sales

Supply groups can now leverage DTN TABS to take advantage of new opportunities, while credit groups maintain firm control over credit limits and contracted volumes in real-time

DTN has launched the latest release of DTN TABS™, a system that helps suppliers manage credit limits and allocations for customers and trading partners.  DTN TABS authorizes or denies a customer trying to load fuel at the terminal based upon pre-defined controls, which helps prevent possible credit losses and/or inventory runs.  Real-time loading data from the terminal helps suppliers anticipate product demand and manage inventory across the country.
Powerful new product upgrades to DTN TABS make it easier than ever for supply groups to take quick action to capture new sales opportunities.  Improvements to DTN TABS streamline the ability for supply groups to quickly grant requests for additional volume to a customer who has reached exhaustion of a product allocation.  These special overrides will only take effect if the customer has enough credit remaining in their allocation set up in the DTN TABS database.

Robust new user roles ensure that supply and credit groups have the ability to maintain their own types of allocations.  Now, supply groups can proactively manage a customer’s account in real-time, with an instant view of the amount remaining in product allocations as well as the amount of credit remaining to a customer.

DTN TABS is also extending value downstream to fuel marketers.  Now, marketers are able to manage and control liftings at the terminal using DTN TABS to realize the same benefits that suppliers have been enjoying for years.  DTN TABS can also automatically feed real-time allocation information to supplier portals so marketer’s have up-to-the-minute access to their account information.

“DTN is committing resources to DTN TABS based on overwhelmingly positive customer feedback,” says Robert Gordon, chief executive officer, DTN.  “We believe DTN TABS represents the industry’s most comprehensive terminal allocation control system.  Our planned enhancements are based on customer requests for flexible supply management controls that solve real world challenges in supplying fuel.”

The need to manage positions at the terminal has placed additional requirements on the DTN TABS system designed to combat tough, physical challenges such as lapsed terminal communications and inclement weather.  Now, DTN TABS validates all dates of completed bills of lading against the range of the current allocation period before decrementing the allocation amount.  Terminal activity alerts are sent via email or cell phone to notify customers when there has been no activity at a terminal within certain time parameters to give warning of a possible communication failure, product outage or pricing inconsistency at busy or crucial terminals.
