SYNOPSIS FOR THE NEXT 24-48 HOURS: Hurricane Michael will make landfall over the Florida Panhandle today as a Major (category 3/4) hurricane. Significant rains, winds, and storm surge conditions could be seen anywhere from Mobile AL to the Tampa Bay FL area. The areas expected to see the highest winds and most destructive elements of this storm are expected to occur at, near, or just east of Panama City, FL. Much of northern Florida and southern Georgia could see strong to severe storms and heavy rain on the outer edges of the system.

For Thursday, heavy rain from Michael will move across GA into the Carolinas and VA before moving through the Delmarva region into the Atlantic overnight into Friday.

OUTLOOK FOR DAYS 3-5: On Friday the remnants of Michael will be off the Atlantic coast but still could be close enough to cause breezy conditions for Long Island and southeastern Mass/Southern RI. Outer portions of Cape Cod and Nantucket will be most at risk for significant wind gusts from this activity.
