DTN Acquires ClearAg®, Boosts Agronomic Offerings
The acquisition further enhances DTN’s capabilities and solutions for agribusinesses and producers.
DTN, an independent source of insights, analysis and decision-support solutions, has acquired the Agriculture and Weather Analytics segment from Iteris (NASDAQ: ITI). The acquisition enables DTN to build upon its expertise in agriculture and deliver new value-driven solutions to producers and agribusinesses worldwide.
“At DTN we are intensely focused on adding unique solutions to our portfolio that drive value for our customers and clients,” said Steve Matthesen, DTN CEO. “ClearAg is a global leader, offering best-in-class solutions for customers throughout the agriculture supply chain. We will leverage their predictive agronomic insights to further drive value with our agribusiness and individual producer customers. This acquisition is a natural fit and complements our existing portfolio of agriculture solutions.”
Agribusinesses and producers alike rely on ClearAg’s real-time, hyperlocal weather information and their land surface models to make predictive agronomic solutions. “ClearAg brings unique and valuable agronomic insights to the world’s agribusinesses and producers,” said John Teeple, senior vice president of agriculture at DTN. “Adding their talented staff and predictive analytics to DTN strengthens our position and ability to provide the best available decision support for agriculture companies and producers anywhere in the world.”
DTN expects to leverage its own proprietary weather station network alongside ClearAg’s predictive agronomic solutions to deliver the most accurate independent insights in agriculture today. “This strategic investment boosts our ability and underscores our commitment to serving our customers and the agriculture marketplace with new and innovative solutions,” Teeple said.
“Today is a great day for DTN and ClearAg,” said Matthesen. “We are bringing together two businesses that not only share similar corporate values, but also share a deep expertise in and drive for improving how our customers feed and fuel the world.”
DTN and Iteris have also announced a strategic partnership agreement to pursue future joint opportunities in the global transportation market. “Today’s announcement is an exciting step in forming a true partnership with DTN,” said Joe Bergera, president and CEO of Iteris. “When we combine our transportation expertise with the meteorological expertise at DTN, we will be able to deliver differentiated solutions that will drive value to our customers around the world.”
