DTN/The Progressive Farmer Wins 21 Awards at American Agricultural Editors’ Association Event

OMAHA, Nebraska —(July 31, 2019) — DTN/The Progressive Farmer, agriculture’s independent voice, won 21 awards at an award ceremony hosted last night by the American Agricultural Editors’ Association (AAEA) in Bloomington, Minn., as part of the annual Agricultural Media Summit event.

Created to recognize AAEA members for quality work, this annual awards program is an opportunity for editorial teams to showcase their best work in design, photography, writing, marketing and communications, and digital and social media.

The recognition included three, first-place awards, and the team swept the blog category, winning all three awards given out. DTN/The Progressive Farmer was recognized for writing, photography, design, and digital media, showcasing the breadth of talent in all aspects of the publication.

First place awards recognized include Katie Dehlinger, breaking news; Chris Clayton, blogs; and, Jim Patrico, pictorial photography. Additional staff members won for their efforts in breaking news, economics/management, editorial opinion, regular columns, team stories, podcasts, portrait photography, feature photography, unpublished photography, special editorial section design, commercial magazine design and special issue magazine design.

The AAEA lifetime achievement award was also awarded to a DTN/Progressive Farmer staff member, Jim Patrico. Now retired, Patrico served as a senior editor at the magazine and throughout his career, won the photographer of the year award 9 times. In addition to being an accomplished photographer, Patrico is a master writer and has won numerous writing awards, and also served on many AAEA committees, boards and held other leadership positions.
